How to: A REAL Baked Potato

Do you put your potatoes in the microwave to "bake" or put foil on them and pop in the oven? Awww, say it isn't so! That's not baking, that's steaming and you are missing out on the delicious flavor of a real baked potato!

Don't forget to eat the skins -- they are packed with iron and other nutrients. Healthy and YUMMY!!!

It's easy to make your own delicious...ahem, authentic...baked potato. Here's how:

Baked Potato
"Real" Baked Potato - just look at that crispy skin!
 You will need:
  • 4 Russet Baking Potatos
  • Olive Oil
  • Kosher Salt (or sea salt)
Follow these steps:
  1. Preheat oven to 400°.
  2. Scrub and wash potatoes. Pierce several times on each side.
  3. Rub a thin layer of olive oil on each potato (makes the skin crispy and delicious) and toss some salt on them.
  4. Place the potato directly on the oven rack bake for 30 minutes. NOTE: If you're cooking more than 4 potatoes, you'll need to extend the cooking time by up to 15 minutes. Potatoes are done if tender when pierced with a fork and the internal temperature reaches 210 degrees F.
You can also use this method for your grill too!!!
